Dear Karl:
It is often said that from small beginnings, great things will come. We at Jobs In Transition believe this is especially true of our work in the community. It is only with the help of professionals like you that this becomes possible.
As you know on a weekly basis we not only give encouragement, education, and support on finding a job, but also on how to keep it. Many people involved with JIT have had the same job for years and never imagined this might happen to them. They are not prepared for a layoff and need help in coming to terms with the emotional and practical side of unemployment. Unfortunately, for many it becomes a long-term situation. They are left with very little self-esteem, making it more difficult to find a job in the future.
In this light, and to these ends, your speaking address to our group was greatly appreciated. It gave us all, helpful insight and motivation in our own individual job-search and networking possibilities.
As the weeks and months go by, we see men, women, and young adults who are forced to re-enter this highly competitive job market. We at JlT hope that you will be able to return as a speaker in the future.
We greatly value your contribution and the coordinators, Dennis Holman, Lisa Wicklund, John Shaver, David Dirkes, and myself sincerely thank you.
Very truly,
David Scheele
