The most successful leaders desire to create and sustain a truly inclusive workplace in which every member of a team contributes to the best of his or her ability and receives equitable opportunity and support. The ability to provide positive connections and to create an inclusive culture is dependent on building the kind of trust that creates safety and supports a wide range of differences. Unfortunately, sometimes our reactions to differences interfere with even our best intentions when it comes to making people feel safe and feel like they are valued and belong. The unintended outcome can be the creation of a workplace culture where team members are undervalued and do not leverage unique talents and skills to the best of their collective potential.
The good news is that there are tools and competencies that can enable leaders to build trust and create the safety that is needed to support everyone’s sense of belonging. In this session participants will learn how to value difference and build relationships with people in ways that create the psychological safety that supports belonging, learning, contribution and even the ability to constructively debate and challenge ideas.
